A few weeks ago, Natalie and some of her girlfriends were sitting around the bar at the Sheboygan Yacht Club when they decided last minute to schedule themselves for sailing lessons at the Sheboygan Youth Sailing Center located right next door. For years, the SYSC has served to educate countless children in the fine art of sailing all sorts of vessels on Lake Michigan. On Monday and Tuesday evenings, they offer the same lessons to adults using Sonars as the boat of choice. I quickly found myself in a small Sonar with four ladies learning all about sailing! It was more than entertaining!

We have had a total of three lessons and have until mid-August to complete our 10-week course. So far, it has been an absolute joy! Once completed, we will have access to the boats to sail on our own if we choose. Right now, my Catalina 25 is on stands in the yacht club’s derrick yard waiting for its final coats of paint, which I have simply been too busy to apply. And with our planned adventures on board our Hatteras, it’s very likely the Catalina will not be launched this year. In truth, this is going to be just fine for me as it gives me a little more time to get back into the swing of sailing before I jump aboard our own sailboat.
