I spent January 20th and 21st traveling with my youngest son, Lincoln, to Des Moines, Iowa where he will be living while attending his second year at Drake University. We stopped overnight in Ankeny, my childhood home on Wednesday and even had a chance to drive by my old elementary school and boyhood home while picking up carryout from a local Thai restaurant.

Lincoln, outside his new apartment! I’m just glad the police station is right across the street!

We got him moved in on Thursday morning and despite hauling everything up to the third floor, I survived. I then spent the evening driving home to Sheboygan, having to stop halfway for a Zoom meeting while sitting in my car at a Walmart somewhere in eastern Iowa. I got home late, but ready for the weekend we had planned at our friend’s lakefront cottage in northern Wisconsin.
