Had our good friends come and spend the the evening at Steinthal over the weekend.  After waking at 5:30 AM on Saturday morning in order to sprint down to Ozaukee High School (Fredonia, WI) for an early morning basketball game,  the remaining day and evening was spent enjoying great food and wine, sitting around a humongous bonfire and  playing Dumb A$$ followed by Texas Holdem.  It was not too surprising that I was the Dumb A$$ champion for the evening and then I managed to pulled an “all in” on Jay early in the Texas Holdem game with a straight and won the match.  Considering I really don’t play poker (I still need a cheat sheet), I was slightly impressed with myself.  No one else seemed to be, however.  Also, unfortunately no money traded hands.

On Sunday morning we thought we should at least do something productive in order to make ourselves feel a little bit better about the previous evening’s escapades.  We decided to fired up the wood splitter for a good hour and subsequently generated enough split wood to last us the entire winter (and fall and spring given the crappy cold ones we typically have).   After getting bored with splitting wood (honestly something I could enjoy all day long), we decided that we should continue the Sunday activities in our more usual unproductive way and we headed out to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge in Sheboygan and enjoy all you can eat broasted chicken and fries while watching the ViQueens and Packers lose.  What the heck!??    It was heaven, albeit for the Packer loss.   I knew it was going to be a party there when I had to ask Adam for 5 kiddie cocktails at the start of the game and he ran out of grenadine!

Of course, some of us had to stand IN the fire for the awesome pic….
