This year has been a challenge for all of us! After we recently survived COVID-19 and now enjoying our new “debatable” immunity to reinfection, Natalie and I thought we try to change up life a little by traveling somewhere for a change of scenery. While international travel is still difficult, we elected for a place that is warm, sunny, and has a beach. Florida isn’t really a place we wanted to go so we thought we would try someplace new and discovered Gulf Shores, Alabama. After having many travel plans and concerts for 2020 canceled due to COVID-19, we thought this would FINALLY be our opportunity. I made all the flight, resort, and rental car reservations this past weekend right before hurricane Sally became an “item” on national news.

Once again our opportunity took a turn Tuesday when this happened:

Gulf Shores, Alabama today

Within a few days of making our plans, I received an email from Perdido Beach Resort that our reservation was canceled indefinitely. This was what the posted on their Facebook Page:

Due to damage from Hurricane Sally we are unfortunately no longer able to accommodate reservations. Once we are able to access the internet we will issue refunds. We are working through the after-effects of Hurricane Sally. Please be aware that our phone lines are currently down. Please feel welcome to reach out later in the week. We will update you when we reinstate arrivals and are able to safely welcome you back to the Gulf Coast. Thank you for your patience, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We look forward to welcoming you in the future.

Sincerely, Perdido Beach Resort

We are sincerely sorry for all the people and businesses that have endured horrible damage due this slow moving Hurricane and we look forward visiting this wonderful locale during better times.

And now we are going to try San Diego instead and hoping the smoky skies are tolerable…. According to the local San Diego sources, the smoke should clear out by this weekend and we are keeping our fingers crossed this won’t repeat itself in early October when we leave.

San Diego Skyline today…..
