We took a ferry to Varenna yesterday. Varenna is situated across the Lake to the Northeast of Bellagio. By ferry it is only 10 minutes away. While there we hiked up the mountain to the Vezio Castle. The Castle, dating back to the 14th century and recently restored, is visited by thousands of tourists every year, attracted by the enchanting legend of the Longobard Queen Theodolinda, who dwelled for some time in the Castle, and by the many artistic or cultural exhibitions that take place within its walls.
