Santa Claus gave all three of Natalie’s kids’ gift certificates for new bikes this year. I don’t think he thought it would be wise for them to receive bikes on Christmas morning without ensuring they had the right frame style and size, and knowing how fast they grow, we parents really did appreciate his foresight.

As it turns out, I’ve been spending a lot of time perusing the local Trek bike store for a few needed bikes of my own and while there, started to think about getting the kids appropriately fitted for some new bikes in preparation for many future biking adventures with them. Only one day after I bought my new epic bike, I found myself back at the local bike store yet again, but this time with Natalie and the kids!

After narrowing down the best frame configuration for their planned riding, we all decided that a hybrid bike called the Trek FX was the ideal choice.

These bikes are NICE! While I was planning on spending a little less money on the FX1 models, the kids all reminded me that we had coupons from Santa and should really step it up and get the models with the higher-end components. I really couldn’t argue with that.

They really should be able to keep these a long time and the beauty of them is that they will give them a lot of opportunities to spend riding with Natalie and me. They are definitely configured more for road riding, but still have the flexibility to go off-road as they desire.
