Tonight Sophie was doing her evening chicken feeding chores as I was preparing dinner for the kids. She is in charge of watering, feeding and collecting the eggs. After taking water out to the coop, she came running to the house with great excitement exclaiming that there was another chicken in the coop. The lonely hen has a visitor; a beautiful and quite large banded rooster evidently has joined her for the remainder of the winter and upcoming spring and summer! She said she knew something was different when she heard the strange noises emanating from the coop. We have no idea where he came from or how he ended up in the coop, which today even had the side chicken hatch open for some outside adventures. Nonetheless, we are happy to know that our one remaining hen has a guest!
