Natalie and I took her kids up north to Sturgeon Bay for our first weekend getaway on the boat. Take Five just underwent a major engine overhaul and we had a lot of clean-up work to do in order to get her ready for the season. Despite having “like new” engines, there was a problem with them idling too high, and the starboard engine shifter needed to be adjusted since I was unable to get it into forward gear. So, unfortunately, we weren’t able to take her out for a cruise this weekend as we had planned.
Despite all the cleaning, we were able to find plenty of time to go on walks downtown, enjoyed the farmer’s market on Saturday, and even caught some live music at Stone Harbor Resort down the street. The Dave Steffen Band was there and it was great to say “Hi” to the members as years ago I had hired them to play at my lodge for a fun private party.
As customers of Centerpointe Marina (the place we keep Take Five), we were invited to their new showroom open house and caught some free live music while enjoying free brats and beer. The only problem was that Natalie had the girls wear Bay Marine shirts to the Centerpointe Marina Open House. We are also customers of Bay Marine (our winter storage and service location) and they are direct competitors of Centerpointe. It made for a slightly awkward situation, but the girls graciously covered up their shirts and we were free to roam the showroom without any evil stares.
