Had the rare opportunity to watch Olympic Gold Medalist speed skater Shani Davis race at the Pettit National Ice Center, Milwaukee’s Olympic training center today while waiting for the start of The Green Bay Dragons hockey game! I was AMAZED at how fast those guys can skate; upwards of 37 M.P.H.! Having never experienced live speed skating, I must confess I didn’t realize who he was until after the race when Alyssa told me she was standing next to him by the rink just before her game started. I also must confess that the women’s hockey game, while exciting at times, was a slight let down after watching the speed skaters whip around the track!
