RAGBRAI XLIX Day 1 (Sunday, July 24) – Ida Grove – 53.2 miles – We were up at 5:00 AM. Packed our gear and were on the road by 6:00 AM. We had a great ride and enjoyed seeing the countryside and small towns along the route.

We stopped at Mr. Porkchop in the country where Natalie volunteered to sit in a dunk tank to the pleasure of all the riders that tried their best to sink her. In the end, an 11-year-old named Rebel took her down after three throws.

We got into Ida Grove and there are castles everywhere! Evidently, a local multimillionaire loves the architecture and buys up real estate for the sole purpose of building castles all about the small rural town.

Tonight we enjoyed Margaritas and tacos and are looking forward to listening to some live classic rock! See you tomorrow !! We head to Pocahontas, only 71.2 miles to the east.
