I recently learned that there was an osprey nest in the trees overlooking the the pond in the back yard.   The guests, a DNR forester and his wife, a wetland expert were generous enough to take me out on a walk through the woods in order to provide more insight into the general health of the property’s forest and wetlands.  During our conversation they asked me about the osprey and whether or not I knew their location as they heard the cries, but couldn’t spot nest.  I honestly had no idea they were nesting on the property.  After the guests left, I spent some time over the weekend listening and searching for them and was finally able to spot them high on the southern edge of the pond.    Looking forward to more encounters with the beautiful bird!
