It is 5 degrees outside this morning and only a degree shy of the daytime high. This afternoon, during the game, the temperature will begin it’s plummet to -20 degrees (and that is not the windchill!) As we await today’s game in Green Bay, we feel relatively well-prepared with Thermacare heat pads and layers upon layers of green and gold undergarments. We are ready to make our signs to hold up at the stadium declaring that we are “Partying Like it’s 1967”, an appropriate reference to the coldest game in NFL history also played in Lambeau Field against the Dallas Cowboys. While the temperature won’t dip quite as low as that game, the thinking is that this will be number 2 or possibly number 3 in the history of the NFL. While free coffee and hot chocolate will be provided, we are certain to be in for an extremely cold, but memorable event today. Finally, we also remember our dinner out on Friday night at a secret place that we stumbled upon a few weeks ago, spotting Packer players there in the past. This Friday, we were stunned when Alyssa, while sitting in the continuous booth against the wall, was joined shoulder to shoulder with a customer in a grey hoodie. His party arrived about 30 minutes after we did. After he sat down next to her, he took down his hood and we were surprised to be sitting right next to Aaron Rodgers who was enjoying dinner with some of his teammates, including AJ Hawk. About half way through dinner, Troy Aikman walks up to our table to wish Aaron and the team good luck! We were starstruck for sure!
I have no idea how this game will go and want to say nothing more about it for fear of jinxing the outcome. Regardless, it will be memorable! Can not wait! I leave you with this audio clip from last weeks winning game. Wayne Larrivee and Larry McCarren call the game winning touchdown and are truly a class act!
