Natalie and I recently returned from a weeklong trip to Jamaica, where we enjoyed some downtime in the sunshine. Despite a couple of days of rainy weather, we made the most of it.
We stayed at Excellence Oyster Bay, a favorite resort brand we have enjoyed recently in The Dominican Republic and Mexico. We fell in love with Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana, and I hope we will have the opportunity to visit there again!
My main goal was to enjoy the sunny weather and poolside relaxation. I took my Sony a7RV mirrorless camera and enjoyed shooting a few pictures throughout the week. A new DJI Osmo Pocket 3, right out of the box, was sadly involved in a Margarita mishap drenched with tequila, rendering it dead for most of the trip. The margarita also washed away my goals of doing a lot of videography, and while I suspect I will someday find some time to piece together a fun video of the trip, it may be a while.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I suspect this will be our last international trip until Natalie’s children graduate from high school. We recently canceled our much-anticipated vacation to Thailand, but hopefully, we will have more opportunities in over three more years.
My goal of visiting a place I have dreamed about since my 20s will need to be put on hold for a few more years. For now, Sheboygan will be our vacation spot to enjoy. It’s a good alternative, with all the entertainment of Chicago only a short drive away.
