Spent the New Year here at Steinthal enjoying my first day off in 10 days and braving the ice on Echo Lake. While I have had the opportunity to try this for many years in the past, I have always been a little leery of actually stepping out onto the lake for fear of falling in. The lake is spring fed and one has to know where not to venture. Today, there was absolutely no worry, but the hockey stick served as a security blanket, just in case. The ice was at least 5 inches thick! What an awesome way to start the new year!
