Over the years, I have spent many years with my family in Door County, usually by boat.  It has always been an enjoyable place for our family and a place that I had hoped would become a tradition for our entire family.  While my family has been forced to change, I am starting to experience new and wonderful things all over again in Door County.  While the boat is currently indefinitely in dry dock, I had the opportunity to walk, swim, bike and drive through Door County over the last weekend.  We even were able to go out into the bay of Sturgeon Bay and power up towards the new Egg Harbor Marina and adjacent public beach!  Dinner out at a new restaurant in Sturgeon Bay where we sat for several hours chatting with other customers and the very proud owner and then dancing the night away to live music both nights!

I wish I had more pictures, but I plan to return soon to capture the fall colors as well as enjoy the Sturgeon Bay Harvest Festival in September when the sturgeons will be auctioned off.  The artistically crafted sturgeons on display throughout the town have always been an attraction and the thought and time spent creating them have always amazed me.  I was able to get just a few pictures of this phenomenon during last weekend’s stay, but am looking forward to the next Door County by land adventure in September.
