We spent an extended weekend in Chicago recently. Took the Amtrak train from Milwaukee to Union Station and it make life so much simpler. No traffic, no problem sleeping while traveling, no worries at all. This is only the second time we’ve done this, but given the lack of use our car gets when we normally take it, it’s really a no brainer for us to continue traveling like this. We end up walking or taking a cab/Uber anywhere we go once we’re downtown anyway.

We spent an evening with my daughter, Lily, who is currently in her fourth year of medical school at my alma mater Rush Medical School. Enjoyed Greek cuisine despite being late for our reservation, but we were welcomed at Andros Taverna in Logan Square nearby my daughter’s apartment.

Natalie and I spent the weekend at The Pendry and loved it there! We also had time to have a few drinks at the bar of Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse. I grew up listening to him with my grandfather, who watched EVERY SINGLE CUBS GAME on his TV in his modest basement of his Des Moines home. I laid on the couch and often times took a nap to the sounds of baseball and it was a lot of fun seeing all the amazing pictures and paraphernalia on the walls there. The two of us also had dinner at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, home of the most amazing Bananas Foster dessert!

Shopping, walking and enjoying the site were all part of the weekend which despite being three days long seemed way too short. We took the train home on Sunday afternoon and I had to listen to the Packers lose another game while en-route to Milwaukee. Here are a few pictures of the weekend with many more in the link below.

Enjoying Greek with my daughter despite being frazzled by our one hour cab ride there. We were late, but still had an amazing time!
